Noiseshaper – Satellite City

Reggae/dub/club with touches of soul and blues, by world-class Austrian duo. I can’t seem to find any information about who the vocalists are, but there are clearly several different ones. Music is excellent, and often features rather unusual combinations of genres (cfx track 4). I don’t know if it’s me, but it seems rather dark and broody in tone. All lyrics in English.

1. 3:38 ***cool midtempo bubble, pleasant vocals.
2. 5:16 **street noises for several seconds – music fades slowly in around 20-30 seconds along, then midtempo clubdub with British-accented rap.
3. 6:08 ****bass-heavy dubstep, Jamaican DJ vocals.
4. 4:42 **big strings ballad intro, slow skank, very moody. Unusual combo of Jamaican accented vocals, orchestral strings, club electronic bits and bluesy slide guitar flourish.
5. 4:05 ***twangy slide guitar intro, downtempo electronic dub, processed vocals. Bluesy delivery, rather cinematic feel.
6. 3:52 **downtempo roots dub skank, soulful vocals.
7. 4:17 *moody piano intro, slow clubdub, female soul vocals.
8. 4:11 ***downtempo clubdub with electronic boops and Jamaican DJ vocals.
9. 5:22 **midtempo club groove, breathy female vocals. I really like the music, but a bit less keen on the vocals and lyrics.
10. 5:00 **organ and soul/spiritual vocals intro, slow bubble with bits of dub. Best part is the electronic grunts…
