Self described as “trance/tropical music”, Angelo Spencer and friends sound like a weird cross between surf music/reggae/bluesy rock. Sounds a bit like Vampire Weekend/ Surfer Blood, minus the hype, or Sierra Leone Refuge All Stars on electric guitars. Most tracks have nice Caribbean beats, but others are more experimental. All instrumental tracks. FCC clean. Try 1,3,6
*1.Caribbean feel with a heavy bass sound and odd wind instruments/percussions.
2.Electrical guitar delivers a weird lick that sounds like a cross between a Caribbean and Middle Eastern beat. Bass percussion in the back
*3.Quick Caribbean-esque beat delivered by an electric guitar. So good!
4.Decidedly the weirdest track. Whiny wind instruments & passing buses (?).
5.Quick, twangy guitar riffs & steady drums with odd chants in background.
*6.I cannot describe this song, except to say that it is awesome! Jerky guitars, Caribbean twinges, fuzzy electrical guitars- this is such a party!
7.Slower song. Calm and soothing. The guitar is trying to imitate a sitar sound, and there are rattles in the background.
8.Halting Caribbean beat with handclaps thrown in for good measure.
9.Another experimental track- wind instruments that sound like elephants.
10.Up-beat Caribbean-esque track: quick, fuzzy guitar riffs and hand drums distort into experimental sound effects
