Dark, dreamy shoegaze. Female Joy Division with some 60s pop appeal. Baked in the C86 mold, for fans of Aislers Set, The Wedding Present, The Pastels. This is a reissue of their collection of work from '90/91 (Slumberland) with 4 new songs (2 originals, 2 covers) - everything holds up really well. Can't recommend this enough, every track's fantastic. Start with 1, 6, 14, 16.
1) ** Rolling drumline to die for, great echo on vocals over fuzzy bass
2) Simple melody, lots of feedback
3) Great bass line, heavy drums ala Joy Division
4) Poppy tune, fucked up bass & maracas
5) Punky, darker Talulah Gosh
6) **Throwin' the other woman off the bridge - yeah!
7) * Fuzzed-out 60s pop ditty
8) Indie pop before the genre was named. I love the slightly off kilter drums
9) * Slower-paced, sweet shoegaze guitar swells
10) Catchy instrumental interlude
11) ** (Demo of 1) Harsher feedback, same kickass drums, crystalline vocals
12) (Demo of 6) Hearty dose of reverb, yum.
13) (Buddy Holly cover)Tender fuzzed out pop tune
14) ** They've still got it- super catchy bassline, same great vocals
15) Entering rock territory: good but not that interesting
16) **(Suicide cover) Shimmery version of great song
