Great acoustic album by Jared Grabb (lead for Scouts Honor). Instruments include guitars, bass, drums, banjo, organ, etc. The sound is folksy, bluesy. Think Old ’97’s, Uncle Tupelo / Wilco. The songwriting is excellent (pay attention to the lyrics - many are quite good). A very strong effort. No FCC’s.
*My Favorites*: 3, 5, 6, 8, 10.
1. (3:53) Slow. Banjo and vocal with male and female backing vocal. Melancholy and mellow.
2. (4:17) Mid / Fast. Full band, driving beat. Old ’97’s / Uncle Tupelo vibe. Slows down with a cappella phrase, then back to full band.
3. *(3:00) Mid. Great folky acoustic guitar, lap steel, brushes on the drums.
4. (2:37) Slow. Sparse with acoustic guitar. About the couple’s ‘ring’.
5. *(4:18) Fast. Killer slide guitar. Bluesy. Fast. Driving. Insane.
6. *(3:40) Slow / Mid. Ominous mood. Plodding beat. Banjo, cymbal crashes. Female backing vocals.
7. (4:00) Mid. Loud, full band. Propelling and rocking. Xylophone makes an appearance.
8. *(3:50) Mid / Fast. Really has that Old ’97’s feel. It’s a rocking, upbeat, ‘feel good’ song. Tempo slows towards the end.
9. (4:44) Slow / Mid. Mellow banjo stroll to start. About a couple’s relationship. Tempo picks up, with pounding drum phrase. Alternates between slower and faster tempos.
10. *(4:01) Slow / Mid. Great ‘love’ song. Mellow acoustic bliss.
11. (2:44) Slow / Mid. Acoustic, bass and vocal. A ‘lullaby’. Nicely done.
