The late Canadian blues star turns his talents to 1920s and 30s jazz. Fun, no-frills, and fabulous. His guitar work is stellar, his trumpet warm and sweet, and his vocals with just the right edge of playfulness. Great stuff. Plus violin, piano, & clarinet.
*1. Retro gypsy jazz toe-tapper. Muted horn. So cool!
2. Husky-voiced ballad w/lush piano and a stylish sophistication.
*3. Django would be proud. Upbeat piano/violin duet. Smokin!
*4. Relaxed mid/upbeat wiggle with sweet string work & vocals.
5. Slow and romantic classic love song.
*6. Great midtempo Hoagy Charmichael tune. Fun and playful.
7. Midtempo chestnut w/relaxed guitar and dreamy vocals.
8. Slow and lush ballad given a traditionally romantic air.
