Hagai Shaham & Arnon Erez - Violin Sonatas: Dohnányi/Janácek
This is a very pleasant and eclectic well-recorded collection of violin sonatas by Hungarian composer Ernö Dohnányi (1877-1960) (trks. 1-8) and Czech composer Leoš Janácek (1854-1928) (trks. 8-15). Dohnányi's style is reminiscent of Johannes Brahms (1833–1897) and incorporates many Hungarian folk music themes. Janácek remarked, "... in the 1914 Sonata for violin and piano I could just about hear sound of the steel clashing in my troubled head...” – dBug || No FCCs
