Tin Hat / Foreign Legion
Elegant, understated instrumental jazz. Predominantly minor-key, rainy day feel, but keeps it moving with nice funky rhythms. Some beautiful carefully arranged harmonies in choruses. Occasional dissonances and weird intrusions keep it interesting, but it's never a difficult listen.
No FCCs. 7 is gorgeous; 1,3,4,5 are also particularly nice.

1. * Coolly funky with hard-slapped acoustic guitar, made interesting with intrusions of bells, woodwinds, accordion-like pump organ, and beautiful passing-train string swells. 2. Bluesy with interjections of frantic guitar strumming, with funny dissonant accordion 3. * Quieter, pensive, more classical sounding, pretty interwoven violin, clarinet, horn. Segues naturally to next song. 4. * Melancholic 7/4 time with beautiful eerie violin on 5/4 bridge. 5. * 3/4 time with cool chromatic clarinet weaving itself around folky violin melody, falling in and out of muddy dissonance. 6. Fast but chilled-out funk with busy guitar. 7. ** Stately with interesting horn/violin/clarinet harmonizing; starts melancholic then brightens up like a sunrise. Very pretty. 8. Droopy blues with more nice harmonizing. 9. Stately with strong folky 3/4 rhythm and regal horn. In between medieval heroic ballad and spaghetti western. 10. Elegant toe-tapping tango with pump organ. 11. Soft funky head-nodding guitar, whispering clarinet/violin harmonizing, gets all itchy-scratchy ants-in-the-pants in the guitar solo. 12. Funky 3/4 rhythm, another eerie/sad tune. 13. Swaying 3/4 rhythm, spaghetti western feel with mariachi-ish horn. 14. Short quiet waltz, classical feel, pump organ and violin only. 15. Reflective folk-rockish guitar/violin/piano, with interjections of cool dissonant piano runs.
