COLL: Scion CD sampler Label: Plant Music
Unusual compilation. Was this sponsored by Scion (the car)? I don't know what to make of it. There are some tracks in here that have legitimate underground credibility, like DJ Wool's #5 (which is slammin' - he DJed in the Bay Area in the early 90s). But there are also a number of really cheesy mega-rave cuts too (but some of the cheesy tracks kinda work). Try: 1,2,4,5,11,12
1. "Dirty disco" (electro-fied disco) made in SF. Funky & sharp riffs.
2. Euro-style synth-pop w/ disco-esque flavors and vocals.
3. Sugary pop-trance with equally sugary vocals.
4. Rave track - bounce-y & chunky. It's cheesy, but I kinda like it.
5. Techy house. Crunchy & stripped-down. Bangin'.
6. Electro-rave material w/ MCing/rap samples, nothing special
7. LA-style big mega-rave track w/ requisite "whoo's"
8. Bounce-y Hi-NRG hip-house that's kinda club staple
9. Circuit-party track. Get sweaty and pop that E.
10. 80s-inspired new wave replete with synth melodies
11. Straight-up tech-y house w/ that Chicago jackin' vibe.
12. Meandering track that is moody at points, chill-out at other points.
