These two Japanese superstar brothers are back with their patented “dueling shamisans” sound. Their instruments may be traditional, but their sound definitely isn’t. It’s modern and unpredictable, highly influenced by jazz. They get the coolest sounds from their strings. Most tracks start one way and then go on in surprising ways. Really great stuff. All of it.
1.Starts quiet, picks up into a cool head-nodding sound. 3:52
2. Slow then builds in power. Interesting layers, twangs & thumps.6:43
3. Midtempo w/a nicely unpredictable sound. Picks up, gets fast. 3:47
4. Midtempo, hypnotic. Then a cool mix of spare and textured. 4:50
5. Nicely tripping w/cool interplays & a solid beat to it. 4:55
6. Begins simply and then gets into a fast jam. Serious playing. 5:07
7. Starts w/slow drama. Lots of vocal shouts. Crazy at times. 8:24
