Ambient music, composed mostly of synth sounds and drones, although perhaps too strong and overwhelming to merely exist in the background—the album commands attention. The entire album sounds very dreamy, and is filled with subtle details and heavy filtering. A pretty emotional album. Sounds like Gas or Tim Hecker.
1. (14:12) Very chill, mellow track based on a light, constant drone along with a chord composed of plucking synth sounds that create a crispy texture and dissolve into the background and create a soft, complex musical landscape. Really dreamy stuff, and it evolves over the course of the entire track until fading in the last 2 minutes into a vinyl-staticky recording of rain. Constantly undulating in volume and intensity—sometimes, when the song roars up, it feels pretty intense.
2. *(7:32) Soundscape made of bells, telephones ringing, tapping, and a deep synth pad that alternates between two dreamy chords constantly to create a trodding rhythm. The pad later combines with dreamy, choir-like vocal samples that create a melody. Eventually, the rhythm breaks and the vocals, bells, and pad overlap, creating a very thick, entrancing drone. Cool stuff!
3. *(9:13) Starts with a synth pad playing a very thick chord that keeps on starting, and then fading into silence, occasionally punctuated with a louder, filtery sound. Feels structured almost like a speech. Then, it fades into a harmony produced by guitar-like sounds swathed in reverb and filters, along with soft vox melting into the drones and the strings. It grows into a cacophony of uplifting sound that, with a dramatic chord change, produces a euphoric feeling. This is an excellent track and demands close listening.
4. (5:44) Very mellow. Fat, lazy synth pads forming longing chords fading in and out with soft background noise and tapping. Almost like a church organ kind of sound. This is the most relaxing track of the album.
5. (5:42) More active than the previous track. Lots of overtones of abrasive tonal synths and oscillating filters create a dreamlike atmosphere. Feels fairly typical after listening to the first few tracks.
6. **(14:36) Starts with several minutes of recordings of rain, footsteps, sniffling—a pretty full scene. Fades into a synth pad droning along, slowly changing in timbre, and as the song progresses the filtering and samples of clattering, water dripping, and glitchy cracks grow more intense. It crescendos for about 10 minutes until reaching a very strong point, and fading away. None of the tracks reach this level of energy—I think this is my favorite one.
