Revolver: Music for a While. This band from France excels at simple yet intricate melodic lines engaging vocal harmonies, kind of like a more modern and pop-y version of Simon & Garfunkel. Largely acoustic, they give the vibe that they really don’t need fancy synthesizers of electronic instruments to compose awesome music.
FCC clean. Try 1, 4, 8.
1) Alternates between haunting melodic acoustics and thicker electric guitar.
2) Violin-enthused crooning for a nice effect. The vocals sound almost like a mellowed-out barbershop quartet.
3) Tickling the ivories and strumming the strings are the basis for this one.
4) Simple acoustic instruments provide the perfect complement for this song’s lyrics.
5) A foot-thumping beat tempered by gentle strings is the main drive behind this track.
6) A calm, doleful ballad.
7) Vocal harmonies really add an extra dimension to this track.
8) Additional voices enter this track as it progresses for an intriguing layering effect.
9) Like other tracks, vocal harmony sets in by the time the final chorus hits.
10) Different singers echo each other in this giddy-up song.
11) A plodding track, yet one that appeals so much to the ear that you can’t stop listening. 12) A sense of finality appropriately pervades this final track of the album.
