Billy Green / Stone (Soundtrack)
By The Ambassador
This appears to be a soundtrack to an Australian biker flick from 1974. I can’t say anything about the film (it’s not on Netflix – I checked), but the soundtrack is TRIPPY! Some really out-there production and sound effects. If you like your rock psychedelic and your soundtracks spacy and weird, this CD is for you. FCC Clean. Try #1 (spacy, psych instrumental), #6 (downtempo/ambient), #19 (proggy rock with femme vox and spoken word intro)
1)** trippy, drony theme music with tablas, digiridoo and keyboards galore and eerie wordless vocal ; 2) some serious car chase music here, intense psychedelic romp with lull in the middle with wah-wah, organ and acoustic guitar; 3) sound effects and keyboards – not much of a song here; 4) another short weird song with mouth-farty noises and other strange accapella sounds – GLEE this is not; 5) mostly symphonic with some drums and timpani short song; 6)** dirgy groove with phased drums and haunting strings – great ambient sounds – no vocals; 7) whimsical hillbilly romp with finger-picked guitar, banjo & harmonica; 8) slow, droney guitar number; 9) Acoustic & wah-wah guitars open up into a Yes-flavored prog groove 10) bluesy groove with electric guitar, fender Rhodes; 11) wailing guitars, fender Rhodes and big drums, then a skronking sax solo! Proggy instrumental rock; 12) eerie minor chord piano tune with strings that sounds like it was recorded in the next room; 13) romping saloon rock; 14) rocking cacophony transitions into endless guitar tone/feedback with trumpet solo over the top – kinda hurts my ears, but maybe someone else likes this sort of thing; 15) harpsichord theme; 16) dialogue with glockenspiel; 17) starts off with strings then vocal rock tune with snarling guitar, fender Rhodes; 18) rocking tune with male vocals, squealing guitar; 19)* same song as #18, but starts with monologue and droney/chanting background sounds, then clavinet and moog enter with female vocals; 20) trailer for the film – pretty cool
