Folky indie electronica, bordering on experimental. Mystical and druid-like. For fans of Björk, Bat For Lashes, Zola Jesus, St. Vincent and any other gothy songstress in vogue. All songs have long odd fadeouts, so beware. Glasser is LA based Cameron Mesirow, and Ring is her 2010 release, which ended up in many top of the year lists. FCC Clean. I like all tracks, but start with 1,3,5,7.
†1.Upbeat. Dark track with tribal rhythm and crazy strong, echoey vocals.
2.Midtempo. Clapping, odd percussion sounds. A lot of echoey, layered vocals in the chorus. Very dramatic, with swelling strings and strong backbeats.
†3.Midtempo. Far Eastern influences. Very complicated instrumentation, keyboards, strings, several levels of vocals, chanting. Odd and intriguing.
4.Midtempo. What sounds like Japanese chanting, with several synth lines and chorales layered into a whirlwind of a song. Sounds like Björk. Drawn out end.
†5.Midtempo. Mystic, swirling melodies with reverberating vocals.
6.Midtempo. Persistent backbeat, layered vocals. Very apprehensive.
†7.Upbeat. Driving beat, crazy synths, booming effects and liberal use of percussion. Ethereal vocals.
8.Midtempo. Something like a xylophone leads the melody, which is sweet and almost childish. In contrast, vocals and chorus are brooding and heavy.
9.Downtempo. Weird cross in between sound art and experimental music. Brass, eclectic keyboard melody and deep bass with yowls and sighs.
