Rich and wonderful Afro-Caribbean music based in spirituality. Solid playing full of heart and history. Typically hot percussion from Santos, plus horns and vocals. Great stuff, every track.
1.Much too short mid-tempo drumming & African chanting.
2. Slow and rich Cuban ode, picks up into a fiery rumba.
3. Call-response intro to mid/upbeat wiggly goodness. Hot, hot!
4. Sweet and layered, relaxed anthem for peace. Beautiful.
5. Joyful, spirit-filled homage to Shango. Wonderful.
6. Slow and dreamy w/beautiful vocals, then fast & fiery.
7. Midtempo spoken word w/drums into a driving full-chorus jam.
8. Bright trombone leads to a dishy, big band cha-cha.
9. Rain stick & chanting. Light percussion. Picks up & gets busy.
10. Sweet & playful playful w/hints of electronica/recorded sounds.
11. Rich chanting, solid percussion, then chorus. Kinda mystical.
12. Drum jam, ululating call-response. Amazing vocals, mid/upbeat.
