The debut album of this Minneapolis group. Bar-band blues and blues-rock with electric guitar, bass, drums, and harmonica, literally recorded in a basement. All original songs written by Alex Larson, the guitarist and singer.
FCC in track 3.
1. Mid-tempo instrumental. Lightnin Hopkins riff on guitar with bass. Harp joins in later. (2:47)
2. Down-n-out blues with vocal, heavy on the blues harp. RIYL Charlie Musselwhite, say. (3:43)
3. FCC no no. Unimpressive song anyway. (3:15)
4. Standard 8-bar blues. Rhythm guitar propels it along. MANY verses; it gets tedious. (4:18)
5. * Up-tempo blues rock, heavy on rhythm guitar. Humorous lyric. (3:24)
6. Old timey sound, with honky-tonk piano & kazoo (maybe?). Perhaps play it for humor. (2:52)
7. Another 8-bar blues w shuffling rhythm. Uninspired lyric, a metaphor goes nowhere. (2:28)
8. * Finally something that rocks. Classic up-tempo 70s-style blues rock. (2:44)
9. Slow crawl. A bit of crunch on rhythm guitar. First use of a sax. Nothing too exciting. (3:57)
10. Like 8, fast, blues rock. A larger band this time. Driven by a walking bass line. (2:05)
11. Ode to a car. Mid-tempo rock song, not so bluesy. Mostly a singer & a guitar. (3:42)
12. Yet another blues rocker w rhythm gtr, vox & harp. Running out of things to say. (3:28)
13. * A slow blues instrumental. Just elec guitar, bass & drums. Stylish. Very short. (1:36)
14. Reprise track 1 but much faster this time. (2:27)
