JOHN STOWELL & MICHAEL ZILBER: Shot Through with Beauty

MODERN JAZZ – The Portland and Bay Area jazz scenes meet up in this light, varied set. Stowell’s ringing, cool-toned guitar sound pairs nicely with Zilber’s warm, modernist sax approach. John Shifflett adds many interesting touches on bass while Jason Lewis’ busy drumming expands to fill in all the spaces. Mostly cozy, but sometimes enigmatic.
