Swamp funk blues Detroit turns into indie rock if not Brit Pop over the course of one CD (wtf?). Samples and strangeness is definitely tempered by a more indie rock feel to this release. Male vocs and rock/swamp/funk instrumentation. Fans of stuff like Black Lips, Dead Weather, Flaming Lips, ELO, et al. (I admit, I got the band and album title swapped and thought this was the band of album title named ans was confused the whole time reviewing).
1) (2:49) blacksploitation funky 70’s feel gone Detroit, “theme song”
2) (2:17) “I got 99 problems and a bitch aint one”, swampy bluesy ballad, somewhat misogynist
3) (2:59) heavy big beat, swamp funk
4) (3:05) epic indie rock feel, huh, really?
5) (3:56) “hopelessly stoned”, upbeat swingy funky dance rock that’s gotta be ironic with the 70’s synths
6) (3:14) another indie rock epic song, mellow and sick love themed
7) (3:10) upbeat epic indie rock, whats up with this?
8) (4:11) upbeat 90’s Brit Pop feel somehow
9) (3:47) big ELO strings and piano pop, putting the nail in the indie rock coffin they are laying in
10) (3:09) reflective almost nauseating indie ballady rock
11) (3:35) saccharine upbeat
12) (3:13) slow swing big beat, this is starting to sound like Coldplay suddenly
