Jookabox / The Eyes of the Fly (4/5)
Alternative hip-hop drawn from mixes of old-school punk, folk, electronic, and house. Final album of Jookabox, project band of Indianapolis native David “Moose” Adamson, released after the break-up of the band.
Vocal like something between old-school punk and British alternative rock: upbeat, short shouting, quick tempo, and simple repeated melodies. However, the mood is more avant-garde and hypnotic due to various electronic effects such as house mixing, digital chorus, echo/reverb, and the sound of children shouting in rhymes. The music is original and mixes various genres of music into a unique, cohesive synthesis. Try 3, 4, 5, 7, 9. All tracks FCC clean.
#1 (4:28) Bit hypnotic, heavy echo effect fading in and out, chorus with children shouting in rhymes
#2 (2:47) Bit hypnotic, clapping percussion like in Muse’s “Starlight”, guitar shredding
#3 ** (3:44) Nice track! Interesting sound created by mix of vocals, chorus, guitar, electronic mixing, and hand-drumming
#4 * (2:39) Psychedelic, chorus like wolves howling
#5 * (2:32) Electronic mixing of repeated sound, electric organ, chorus with children shouting in rhymes
#6 (2:06) Stands for fast forward
#7 * (3:34) Electronic effects like the sound of flies buzzing around and arpeggio played by electric keyboard create an avant-garde mood, heavy echo on the vocal.
#8 (3:03) Strong percussion and upbeat melody like a marching band song.
#9 ** (4:19) Various vocal mix, electronic effects, beautiful female chorus
#10 (3:54) Somewhat of a melancholy mood.
