New full length album from local psych act/Wooden Shjips side project/KZSU favorite. Distorted guitar, organ, drum machine and maybe some human-controlled percussion too. Spacy/stony/dogmatic BRCTM, etc. Not as loud or distorted as and without the slamming drums of the rest of their catalog, in favor of a cleaner, lighter, summery tone, but great, great stuff all the same.
*1 (6:40) Great pounding beat kicks the album off in the right way; play this one loud. Distorted vocals and hugely psychy feel before searing guitar comes in about halfway through.
2 (5:05) Poppier sounding rhythm and scratchy guitar joins trademark organ here, jamming guitar and heavier percussion come in later to make it more familiar.
3 (4:16) Quieter, subdued vocals, fake ending 20 seconds before end
*4 (5:32) Really full, distorted, loud guitars highlight this track; sounds like it's clipping at points. Slightly higher, soaring vocals
5 (5:00) Jammy, dark, rhythmic organ grooves this one along with maraca-esque percussion and handclaps. Vocals sound a little bit like ...Beck? here but it's a fun, upbeat track.
6 (4:43) Tambourine, riffing guitars provide another upbeat one; final minute is a fade of song into static and eventual silence, really cool
7 (5:12) Gritty organ + guitar combo makes this one, in accordance with title, a sun-drenched, summery piece.
*8 (7:41) Steady rhythm holds this one down while guitar and vocals are what moves the song along. Krautrocky psyched up good stuff.
