Three-piece band out of Toronto with its debut release. Ethereal organ predominates album, with guitar, bass, drums, violin and a female vocalist with a beautiful, heavenly fragile yet strong voice. Consistent sound throughout - very dreamy and ethereal with lots of sparseness. It is all very rich, elegant and beautiful. Any song is worth a play. No FCC’s.
*My Favorites*: 1, 2, 5, 6, 8, 9.
1. *(4:30) Slow / Mid. Guitar, brushes on drums to start, dreamy. Easy-going lope. Beautiful.
2. *(4:42) Mid. Ethereal with organ, steel guitar, percussion. Elegant and dreamy.
3. (3:37) Slow / Mid. Strings, backing vocals with lots of space. Heavenly.
4. (3:50) Slow. Organ intro. Mellow, sparse and haunting. Wow.
5. *(4:41) Mid. Spacey organ, under a yearning vocal with strings, percussion, guitar. Gets going with driving beat and a spoken vocal phrase.
6. *(4:07) Slow / Mid. Ethereal as all get-out. Fragile vocal. ‘With the right medication / you can heal a heart’.
7. (6:37) Slow / Mid. Haunting with stretched out vocals. Organ, percussion, echoey vocals, strong, heavy beat. Long, slow finish.
8. *(7:05) Slow. Drawn out, dark and ominous with strings, minimal guitar, minimal drums then slowly delivered vocal. Scary, beautiful stuff.
9. *(5:11) Mid. Bluesy, jazzy, folksy tune. Percussion, slide guitar, organ, hip vocal delivery. Cool.
10. (5:59) Slow. Dreamy. Really sparse with organ, guitar, violin, vocal.
11. (7:41) Slow / Mid. Sparse with almost a slowed down church organ. Echoey vocals. Drums come in with 4:50 remaining.
