Compilation put out by five of the members of Trouble and Bass—a New York dance/electronic label founded by Drop the Lime and featuring a lineup of Star Eyes, The Captain, AC Slater, 77KLASH, Flinch, and most recently Samo Sound Boy. They’re known for their heavy emphasis on bass—and you definitely need a good pair of cans to hear all that low-end. FCC CLEAN
*1. Over-the-top dance grooves with frantic percussion, looped surf guitar and a bit of a western feel. Nice sparse percussion in the mix too.
2. Darkwave, synthy, goth elements. Growling bassline, minimal percussion and suave Franz-Ferdinand wannabe vocals. “Shake it down” party vibes. Eh.
*3. Metallic. The entire thing sounds like it’s being fed through a low-pass filter. Definite acid influences. Pretty sick.
*4. Dark and minimal intro. Deep thudding basslines with inventive vocal sampling. A good staccato headbanger.
*5. Glossy synth lines with a stuttering bassline and chopped up female vocals. Oh so smooth. Midtempo and atmospheric. My favorite of the lot.
