COLL: Visionquest Sampler - Fall 2011
Label: Visionquest
Visionquest is headed by Seth Troxler and friends. Seth Troxler is a hot commodity out of Detroit who has been at the forefront of house, minimal, electro, & techno for the last several years. This little sampler is indicative of some of the directions that Seth is taking. Tracks 1 & 3 are quasi-New-Wave with slightly goth-esque overtones. But I think track 2 is the best. Track 2 is wonderfully organic and has a neat broken-beat tempo (think of another Detroit legend - Theo Parrish).
1. Totally New Wave/80s flavor. Bubbly synths with moody male vox, beats & claps, with the occasional snare snaps. A hint of the dramatic
2. Loooong broken-beat track with a slowly building up of synths and organic (birdlike) sounds. I like the tempo here. Definitely a nod to the Detroit legends such as Theo Parrish.
3. New Wave meets broken-beat techno. An insistent male vocal features here, with a burbling synth loop that repeats in your head
