Yves De Mey - Counting Trigger
Label: Sandwell District
Sandwell District is one of the hottest labels in techno right now, and they decided to go nuts and release this stuff by Yves De Mey. De Mey is a sound designer who's never really done any techno. This is virtually all experimental music - textured noise and electronic collage. There are, however, moments of "techno" in tracks 2 & 3 with brutal thudding beats and eye-clawing electronics. And those happen to be the most interesting tracks: 2,3.
1. sci fi tones, sparse, crackles, the jingling of keys, spooky synths
2. textured noise and and ambience for the 1st half, 2nd half has a slow thudding beat with a twanging analog bass that makes it more interesting
3. long spacey intro for 1+ min, then a bass-heavy techno section layered with textured noise, goes into a twisted industrial electro-bath towards the end
4. more textured noise, electronic chaos in the middle as though a battle of electronics
