Dubmatix – Clash of the Titans

Future Dub/Dub/Dubstep/Steppers. Remixes of Toronto-based Dub, from all over the world. Lots of great producers and vocalists involved. Very chewy! Irresistible – I want to have this CD’s baby.
1. 4:37 *****spoken exhortation intro, then downtempo skank that goes wildly dubstepper. Extra gnarly!
2. 4:22 ***sweet, relaxed midtempo roots skank, nicely dubby (and gets dubbier as it goes along).
3. 3:31 **circus organ dub bubble, bits of Lover’s Rock style vocals. Clearly started off pretty normal, and then went way, way ab-…
4. 5:54 **hyperspeed high-hat intro, then uptempo Rock Steady groove with DJ toast and a distinct hint of Junglism.
5. 4:12 ***downtempo one-drop super-dub with bits of the Mighty Diamonds’ gorgeous vocals. Minimalist, with some Nyahbinghi drumming.
6. 4:37 **keyboard boops and DJ yells intro, turning into swingy, boppy midtempo bubble after first minute. Minimalist mix, perhaps a hint of menace, befitting the lyrics.
7. 5:20 ***horn flourish intro, slow, deeply dubby skank with DJ rap, lots of echoes. Gets dubsteppy woobles after a minute or so. Pretty serious fractured.
8. 6:46 ****downtempo lopassed one-drop, minimalist and dubby, featuring DJ toast by one of the originators of the genre. Oooh, here come the woobles! GNARLY.
9. 4:59 ***slow super-dub intro, totally distorted bits of vocals. Horns, things that fly from one channel to the other… gets a nice, slow, swishy Future Dub groove after a minute or so, with a smooth jazz sax.
10. 3:27 ****electronic tones and syndrums intro, then uptempo dubby steppers riddim, very hip-wiggly, fun toast.
11. 3:23 *****booms and aggressive attitude, female toast, uptempo future dub/dubstep. Very cool.
12. 4:37 ***horns intro, then midtempo, bass-heavy steppers with DJ toast. Nice dub sounds.
13. 6:22 ***upbeat electronic steppers/dubstep, the third remix of this track, anti-violence lyrics.
14. 4:16 ***hippy happy bippy boppy dub. Slow one-drop, minimalist.
15. 4:43 ***spacy electronics, midtempo, mysterious dub/future dub with simply and pretty piano and lots of electronics. Instrumental.
16. 3:35 **low-key horn tones, slinky but happy bass line creeps in, downtempo minimalist skank with flute.
17. 4:45 ****bits of shuddery strings for half a minute, then swingy midtempo lotsided skank with bits of vocals. Gradually adds elements, including Dhol drum, melodium… Interesting sounds.
