Thee American Revolution is a side-project of Apples in Stereo maestro Robert Schneider, and predictably reflects similar musical sensibilities. While Buddha Electrostorm is much more heavily guitar-driven and has a pretty consistent rock foundation, it’s firmly rooted in the 60’s, and you can hear Beatles, Beach Boys and Pink Floyd influences shining through. Most tracks have distorted vocals that give them a metallic/electronic edge, and the guitar sound is very diffuse/fuzzy throughout the album. Big sounds that go into trippy territory. Try 1, 6, 10. No FCCs.
1. (3:08)** Jangling guitar becomes a psyched out, trippy, spacey wall of fuzzy guitar and synth sounds, chorus chants “so high”, pretty suitable, sweet, heavily distorted guitar solo
2. (2:21) Crunchy guitars, feedback noises, gritty, distorted vocals, heavy percussion
3. (4:24) Screechy guitar, cutesy female backup chorus, plodding, heavy beat, samples of crowd voices, vocals are a bit drowsy and reminiscent of Beatles
4. (2:41) Strong 60’s influence, meandering drum solo, vocals distorted to sound very electronic, upbeat
5. (3:46) Mid tempo, guitar driven jam lets loose with trumpet, maraca chorus, distorted vocals, electronic blips
6. (1:15)* Beach Boys/West Coast guitar with hand clapping and chorus countdowns, big sound, upbeat, lots of distorted guitar
7. (3:11) Droning vocals, choppy structure with drum solos, guitar doodles at the end
8. (2:10) Very jangly, slightly dissonant vocals, urgent guitar progressions below chorus, “loose control little girl”
9. (4:27) Lots of feedback, crunchy guitar, heavily filtered/distorted vocals, relentless percussion, heavy, psych rock, guitar solos prominent
10. (4:03)** Acoustic guitar returns, tambourine, beneath expansive percussion and fuzzy electric guitar, spacey call and response chorus, epic guitar solo
11. (3:05) Blooming guitar sound, mid tempo, drowsy, hazy vocals and general feel, strings, lots of wah wah, fades out
