NEARLY BELOVED: "Where's Bob?" -- Twangy old-time rock'n'roll. Some touches of island vacation groove. Nice vocals and instrumentation. FCC: Track #3.
Personal favorites: 4, 6, 8, 9. -- Sunshine, June 2012
1) My Memory (3:56) -- Lament of bad memories! Country blues rock. Slow/mid-tempo.
2) Whiskey Whispers (4:44) -- Very Southern country sound, with a hint of island.
3) Cool Fucking Sunset (4:51) -- FCC!!! -- As demonstrated in the title . . . Unfortunately, it's my favorite track so far! Oh well.
* 4) Tomorrow Won't Be The Future (4:23) -- Sort of like the song "Lonesome L.A. Cowboy" by New Riders of the Purple Sage. A little speakeasy piano.
5) The Moon And Morning Star (4:39) -- Calm, peaceful acoustic guitar. Island vacation. Slow, but happy.
* 6) Money Isn't Everything (3:55) -- Big harmonica and hootenanny feeling! Would be good on "Sunny Side Up"!
7) Where's Bob? (3:46) -- Almost Motown harmonic start, mixed with country banjo. Twangy vocals. Reminiscent of "Oh My Darlin' Clementine".
* 8) Subterranean Homesick Blues (4:07) -- Upbeat, fun chugga-chugga groove. Fast vocals -- think country rap!
* 9) Nearly Beloved (2:31) -- Square-dancey feeling. Fun story-telling lyrics and vocals. Island feeling as well.
10) My P-Role Officer (3:15) -- Funny lyrics about the character named in the title! Countrified tune.
11) Sunflowers Turned Away (4:42) -- Very country-esque. Happy Hee-Haw!
12) -- Little Woodblock (4:15) -- Finger-picking strums . . . Political, lamenting lyrics. A little bit sad, but pretty.
