One 32:01 track recorded at the richly forested Amboró National Park in Bolivia. This is a dynamic assortment of sounds made by birds of the oropendola genus. Nollman (b. 1947) is probably best known for his 1982 Folkways record Playing Music with Animals, which carries the subtitle "The interspecies communication of Jim Nollman with 300 turkeys, 12 wolves, 20 orca whales." This is the fourth release from a new label called Rural Situationism that focuses on longform compositions built from field recordings. (The label's motto: "Life is the medium. Awareness of self as space. Cultivate the Deep Map.") RIYL Sounds of North American Frogs, the NorthSound label, working on your bird calls, realizing that non-human animals make better music than we do. No [people] words, no FCCs.
