Album Review

Contemporary No-wave / slowcore / shoegaze, even early 80s post-punk + goth elements. Guitar/drum/bass heavy, there are vocals (not many words) but they are nuggets in the rocky road. Band members from Pittsburgh and Chicago, and indeed a mix of Steve Albini & Don Caballero esthetic. After writing that I read liner notes and see this album is Albini's final engineering job.
All tracks good, FCC clean.

+1. A slow menace. Song about facing your other side.
2.Ringing guitar, warbling minimalism, goes at a good clip.
3.Cleaner sound, mid-tempo, sparse opening then 2nd half fills in
+4.Cool drums and simple bass intro
5. fast and full. A bit like an old plane with a damaged propeller flying with turbulence, cymbals crashing on landing.
+6. Buzzy bass, slow driving. Melodic overtone guitar chimes, deadpan vocal. Like if a couple Cocteau Twins instrumental stems went into an Albini filter before laying on the rest.
+7.Mid-tempo, cool feedback and clean drums, downer feel
