This Finnish outfit pays a unique homage to 70s krautrock, focusing on the era’s psych rock and jazz fusion aspects. These guys listened to a lot of Can, Amon Duul II, Ash Ra Tempel, etc. and then turned up their amps (not quite to 11). Mostly instrumental, though every song has some vocals—equal parts heavy guitars and a retro organ sound that Ray Manzarek wishes he could have pulled off so well. Fans of Bushman’s Revenge, 3 Leafs, Magic Lantern, Lumerians, Hawkwind, Soft Machine, and even White Hills will probably dig this. This is a self-released demo, and simply spectacular. Play this! They’re the kind of hard-working independent artists that college radio is here to support. If that doesn’t make you feel like a good person, the music will anyway.
No FCCs
1. (14:49)* Sloooowly (very much so) unfolding epic math-rock jam. Eventually builds momentum into some wild rhythms, searing guitar leads, with with very sparse vocals.
2. (7:08) Bouncy, jolly fun. Upbeat, post-punky and proggy, like Neu! doing west coast road trip rock.
3. (13:05) Dark, dramatic but endearing mock-epic, like a really spaced-out take on Spinal Tap’s “Stonehenge” antics with killer riffs all around. Delightfully retro rawk, think Glitter Wizard writing a long song about driving on the Autobahn.
4. **(14:25) Long, lethargic stoner blues prog, driving rock-out—Canned Heat cover? Yes, and seriously, it’s great. Sounds like Wooden Shjips after eating particularly tasty banana bread, if you get my drift.
