Magic Trick / Ruler of the Night / Dreamy, psychedelic, acoustic, fluid, soft jangle indie pop with random sound effects, some folk influences, and deep male vocals. Magic Trick is a musical project of Tim Cohen (Bay Area native), formerly of the Fresh & Only’s. The lyrics are a little bland and mostly about relationships and or coping with emotional pain. Phrases that come to mind are torment, “torture,” “what’s wrong with me,” “don’t tell me not to cry,” but none of these phases by themselves offer a vivid description of the emotions Cohen wants to convey (sorry for the opinion, at least I supported it).
