Floyd, J.B. /Another Time and Place Label: Mutable Reviewed by Carl M 2/3/13 Contemporary classical piano composition, some more atonal than others. Piano, Djembe and Yamaha Disklavier used. No FCC’s Favorites: Tribute, Variations, Waves, Prince of Pentacles, Another Time and Place. 1. *(10:02) Tribute – Slightly more atonal, but highly developed piano piece (ends very intensely). 2. (8:38) Solos and Sequences 1 – Atonal, improvisatory piano piece. Weird. 3.***(10:56) Variations – Series of very well thought out variations on a harmonically complex theme for piano. Very cool. 4. *(6:19) Waves – Piano playing “wave-like” patterns and harmonically developing them. 5. (6:19) Solos and Sequences 2 – More atonal improvisatory music, more developed. 6. *(9:51) Prince of Pentacles – Somewhat atonal piano chords over drone note, slow and interesting. 7. **(10:01) Another Time and Place – Introduces electronic/african sounds (Djembe), somewhat atonal piano over African grooves. | ||
