COLL: Feral Cuts: Volume 1 Label: Bad Animal
Alland Byallo's label Bad Animal has put out this neat little 4-track EP featuring two solid tech-house artists Aartekt & Fredrik Stjarne. The EP reflects the sensibilities of the label's owner, former SF DJ/producer now living in Berlin, Alland Byallo. When Alland DJed throughout SF, he spun a lot of great tech-house. And this EP is no different; four strong tech-y house releases. The first two skew more towards punchy & hard-hitting, while the last two skew more towards straight house. I prefered #1 & #2, the tracks by Aartekt, because they're solid club bangers.
1. Thumping tech house. Great energy, flowing synths, deep and serious male vocal sample. Meaty goodness.
2. Hard-hitting tech house with a funky edge. The vocal samples ("rinse it"?) lay down a good groove. Club banger.
3. Synth-driven tech-house with a falsetto vocal loop saying "baby". Strong claps and nice beat structure.
4. More of a dubbed-out straight house track with a distinct bassline & a nervy little synth. Weird & wacky effects.
