Kemetrix: Soul Brother #3 Label: Pomelo

This is probably the most unusual release I've heard in a while. I think Kemetrix shows a great deal of promise, and there's a lot of interesting material here. Even though the tracks refer to a lot of fundamental ideas (inner-city urban soul and techno), the music goes off into uncharted territories. I'd like to see Kemetrix use more gospel/R&B vocalists in his next release, rather than his own falsettos which didn't catch me. But that said, try #1 ("Soul Man"), #2 ("K-O-T-G"), and #6 ("The Hunger").

1. Falsetto vocal soul mixed into a chill-out/spacey track
2. Very unusual - A crazy electro-clash battle with inner-city soul vocals. Deep & heavy broken-beat that would thump out a warehouse, mixed with soulful falsetto
3. Ghetto-tech? Pleading soul falsetto and a slightly manic marimba percussion & a dubby broken-beat
4. Industrial soundscape, broken-up thumping beats, dystopian sci-fi sounds
5. A quick gospel interlude with some electronic backing
6. Nervous & jumpy raw techno. It's dirty and rough and irregular. Very unusual.
