Mind-melting, globe-hopping surf-psych (that’s a lot of hyphens) out of Sacramento. San Kazakgascar are a five-piece (including a violinist and a clarinetist) and they channel some seriously sweltering energy here. This is AWESOME. Get thee to the desert and dance. Favorites: 1, 2. No FCCs detected (probably none, but it’s really hard to make out the vocals 95% of the time). 1. *(4:56)—Long atmospheric intro. Medium-slow, epic. Heavy tom beat, surf-sitar guitars. Droning gang vocals. 2. *(4:16)—Medium-fast, ritualistic, sexy, ultra-danceable. This is the party, right here. 3. (4:32)—Medium-slow, tense, Swans at their most textured. 4. (3:24)—Medium-fast, loud, polyrhythmic rave-up. | ||
