Artist: Six Organs of Admittance Album: Ascent
Genre: Alternative/Experimental/Atmospheric/Space Rock
RIYL: Sun City Girls, Acid Mothers Temple, Castanets
An exotic music project of guitarist Ben Chasny, featuring raga-like guitar work surrounded by bells, chimes (as the name implies), drones, and Chasny's multi-tracked, chant-style vocals.
FCC clean
1. (5.26)- eerie melody starts off; plain bassline; long and sprawling solo throughout the whole song with overdrived/fuzzed out guitar tones; odd atmosphere
***2. (7.18)- The first two minutes slightly make me feel like the track is an odder version of Dark Side of the Moon plus a little more psychedelic; mysterious and creeping vox; brilliant explosion of solo near the middle with nice wah effects and steady/plain bassline as background; subtle effects near the end suit perfectly with the erratic solo that outstandingly lights up the song
3. (4.21)- Ominous effects fade in; sort of religious humming with loopy effects in the background; a highlighting use of chimes throughout the second half of the song
**4. (3.25)- soft and velvety intro; slightly post-rock feeling, distorted rhythmic guitar fades in near the middle; walking alone along the beach, looking at the horizon in the early morning
**5. (6.14)- overdrived effects fade in; echoed creepy vox; spaced-out psychedelia with Blues-rock jams; rumbling bassline; great raging/riled-up guitar solo
**6. (2.59)- melancholic ballad; soft vox; gentle acoustic deep-space love story
7. (7.12)- striking bassline with capricious guitar; jagged and druggy; spiced with halted machine noise effects
**8. (4.47)- slow mellow ballad with some early-’90s indie rock influences; spectral and spacy
