“Electro-Reggae” – although the electronic riddims skirt on the furthest fringe of “Reggae”, it’s still the genre Zulu is closest identified with. Although producer/toaster Zulu sounds very Jamaican, he’s actually Panamanian and moved to Chicago in the 80’s. Distinctive baritone vocals, rubbery electronic riddims. Enjoyable.
No FCCs that I could hear.
1. 3:12 **sparse snare and syndrum syncopated Dancehall/house, dance lyrics (when you can make them out).
2. 3:42 ****goofy electronic squeepies, danceable riddim. Fun stuff.
3. 3:34 ***electronic boops, lopassed march riddim, processed vocals, revolutionary lyrics. Deeply odd in places.
4. 4:00 **bangs and rubber bands, echoes… Rather random and undanceable riddim, but complex rapid-fire toasting.
5. 4:04 ****syncopated rubber band electronic riddim, politrickal lyrics. Dangerous!
6. 3:17 ***uptempo rubbery riddim, hyperspeed toast. Fun.
7. 2:22 ***tweepy little bumpy riddim, almost a Soca vibe.
