MAINSTREAM JAZZ. A solid group led by pianist, composer, producer Ben Paster plays approachable, contemporary instrumental jazz. Trumpet & tenor sax trade lead most of the time. Piano steps in during the bridge now and then. Bass and drums provide the rhythm.

All instrumental. No FCC issues.

* Mid-tempo, easy going toe tapper. Trumpet, piano, sax each take nice long melodic leads. (7:24)
Slow, mellow improve. Pleasant, but at this length, gets a bit dreary. (9:20)
** Mid-fast (mostly). Peppy & complex. Excellent ensemble playing. Good bop-ish sax lead. (8:09)
Slow piano intro. Once band enters it gathers tempo & force, but never gets very interesting. (7:00)
* Mid-slow. Alternating verse & refrain structure. A “cool” 60s movie-theme sound. (7:25)
Very slow, late night ballad. A rare bass lead. (6:21)
* Fast. Upbeat & exuberant. Good tight playing all ‘round. Strong trumpet, sax, piano solos. (8:15)
** Fast. Most powerful, muscular track. Hard drumming. Breaks mold w more of a challenge. (3:44)
* Mid-slow. Mostly group playing. Melodic. Sax & trumpet in unison; shimmer on cymbals. (10:05)
