Darius Bassiray: If You're Lost I'll Be Your Shadow Label: Text Book Music There are 8 different versions of Darius Bassiray's song "If You're Lost I'll Be Your Shadow" - a lovely tropical-sounding opus of 12 minutes with so many interesting components, namely a warm synth & gentle spoken word. Bassiray invited a bunch of his favorite artists to remix this song, and they are all distinctly unique. The aesthetic ranges from exotic downtempo, house, dirty-disco, dub-electro, and tech-house. All versions are great. I especially loved the original track (#1), but you should definitely check out Jay Tripwire's mix (#3), Deepchild's mix (#6), and don't miss the Altruism version (#8) which is a joy. 1. (Original Mix) 12:08 - Chill beat, lush synths, breathy fem vox spoken word - tropical & warm, shimmering effects towards the end 2. (Habersham) 5:39 - Downtempo, a bit glitchy but still preserves the warmth 3. (Jay Tripwire) 7:06 - Playful & exotic synth-driven house, light & bright tones 4. (Chris Fortier) 9:54 - Big layers of synths & guitar noodling, dance-y beat, a bit on the progressive side but still nice 5. (Paul Benyon) 8:57 - Dubbed-out house, spacey synths, spooky but comforting 6. (Deepchild) 8:28 - Techier remix w/ Deepchild's signature driving bassline, a few more tweaks of the effects 7. (Kasey Taylor) 10:35 - Slower. Dirty-disco, some analog bass rolling, but has the nice synths from the original 8. (Altruism) 6:37 - Filled with joy and light, bright melodic tones and a gentle broken-beat. Synths build up nicely. | ||
