Legend Mavis Staples with her second album in a row produced by Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy, and it’s a killer. Mavis’ vcls are both tender and powerful as is the material. Comprising many genres: gospel, blues, folk, funk, soul. Incredible stuff!!! No FCC’s. *My Favorites*: All. 1. (2:42) Slow. Sparse, gospel-tinged dirge. 2. (4:02) Slow / Mid. Haunting w/ folky, work-song, gospel vibes. 3. (2:57) Mid. Funkadelic classic. Funky, soulful upbeat romp. 4. (4:47) Slow / Mid. Mellow acoustic gtr w/ backing vcls. 5. (2:56) Mid.
