Apparat sings and Modeselektor lays down the beat. Really solid second album, four years after their initial release “Moderat”. All songs are beautiful, but mostly darker sounding, melancholic tracks. Nice blend of chilled out tracks but also some that you cannot keep still to. Vocals range from Apparat’s dreamy voice, to distorted vocal mantras. Most tracks are almost symphonic in their nature, using swelling synths, layered vocals, and great textures. Listen to the whole thing if you can...

Picks: 2, 3, 4, *5*, 6, *7*, 11

1 (1:36) Hauntingly eerie, lots of reverb, rain, and depth.
*2 (4:23) Melancholic, symphonic, but still dark and almost animal.
*3 (5:10) Faster song with shakers and synth/ bass play. Great closer.
*4 (10:04) Long track with looping beat mixed with cool/ psychedelic sounds. Gets deeply noisey but still ambient.
**5 (4:15) Bass-heavy lamenting with airy fem vocals and drifting sounds/synths.
*6 (5:45) Head bobbing with female vox, woodblocks (?), synths, and rises/falls
**7 (4:23) Machine farting breaks with Apparat’s gracing. Synths. Bubbles. Oh my god!!!!!!
8 (1:33) Deep, heavy march comes in with synth play.
9 (5:46) Bursting with synths, rain, and white noise. Belongs in a montage.
10 (5:04) Big kick drum with some nice synth action and distorted male repetitive vocal.
*11 (5:26) Mmm. Delicious chilled out moody song with emotional Apparat... Lovely.
