DAVE HOLLAND: Prism Dare2, 2013 MODERN JAZZ – Virtuoso bassist Dave Holland debuts a new group, a bold electric quartet that’s centered in fusion, digs into bluesy jams like some kind of all-star bar band, then spikes straight-up modern jazz with stark moments of free improvisation. Each member of the band is a veteran leader and all contribute equally to the group’s thick sound and wide-ranging repertoire, giving it a broad, collective atmosphere. All worth a listen.
