Illumine is a collection of music representative of Christmas celebration. The works include voice, organ and brass – in combination and individually – designed to capture the spirit of Christmas at Stanford. The CD is intended to trigger campus memories and express the Christmas spirit. Illumine features choral music performed by the Stanford Chamber Chorale, with University Organist Robert Huw Morgan and The Bay Brass, one of the country’s leading brass ensembles. The works range from modern (Christmas Cantata by American composer and organist Daniel Pinkham) to Jingle Bells, with Brahms’ (Romantic Period) Chorale Prelude, Praetorius’ (1571-1621) Chorale, and Handel’s (Baroque Period) Joy to the World in between. Play one or more tracks anytime in the holiday season and celebrate the musical talent and the spiritual and secular joys of life at Stanford.
