Epic, incredible blend of electronic / neoclassical drone elements with a proggy post-rock touch. Flagship drone-metal duo Sunn team up with Norwegian avant-garde rock icons Ulver to craft an awe-inspiring journey. Fans of either band have praised this as some of their finest work. Almost like a study in crafting the perfect crescendo, a wall of guitars and trumpets and brass and synths culminates in a final anthem (vocals + chords = yes, a “song” at the end).

1. (11:27) Sunrise. hypnotic waves of subtle droning strings, brass, guitar—this could easily be the score to a Norwegian version of “Koyaanisqaatsi”
2. (9:38) Dark rumbling bass atmospheres, dissonant soundscapes, subdued SunnO)) style jam
3. (14:10) A glorious synthesis of the previous tracks’ opposite poles; subtle drones, halfway through a keyboard theme and (gasp) vocal chant emerges! Inspiring, triumphant.
