Cheatahs / Cheatahs / Wichita Neo-grunge / shoegaze Minimal use of noise and electronic, but to great effect. Thick crusty power chords with downright hopeful treble riffs. Droning wall-of-sound double rhythm guitar and mixed-down vocals. Pop hook-free. Listen if you want to hear 90's alt-pop influences modernized with judicious noise. RIYL: The Jesus and Mary Chain, Foo Fighters 1. 0:41 synth pads, windy noise, short intro to 2. 2. 3:29 "fag" at 3:44, post-grunge inspired power chords and driving beat, Foo Fighter-evoking echoing vocals and harmonies, twangy riffs, hopeful solos 3. 2:54 FCC at 2:39, up beat power pop feel with dirty chords and bright solo 4. 4:57 *dusky redolent lounge atmosphere crossed with 90's alt rock, orchestrated effect guitar over grunge rhythm, garage drums 5. 3:25 pounding hard garage rock, crackly bass riff, surf-evoking vox harmonies 6. 4:23 Beginning is a typical (for this band) medium-paced garage neo-grunge rock, then triumphant guitar fanfare at 2:59 to end with slow fade 7. 5:12 *Quarter tone-based intro riff, pitch shifted chords and STP-esque vox forming a wall of sound.
