Rick Wade: Sweet Life Label: FINA
Rick Wade is a veteran deep-house producer & DJ from Detroit with a massive discography and was the host of the first house music show on Michigan's WCBN. He plays gigs all over Europe & the US - and his styles are truly diverse, from soulful disco to ghetto-tech. You can even see it in this EP. There is some gorgeous and delicious deep house and some exquisite disco & funk. I absolutely loved each of his original tracks, "Sweet life", "The Chateau", and "Jazz Militia" (1,3,4). The remixes are nice too!
1. 5:06 - "Sweet Life" - A sweet and chilled-out instrumental disco track with Latin accents like congas and pianos and a smooth string loop.
2. 7:00 - (Mr. Beatnick Remix) - Deeper remix of "Sweet Life" featuring a pitch-filtered melody from the original track that adds a bit more synth and funk. Good stuff.
3. 5:46 - "The Chateau" - WOW. This is a deliciously funky disco track that has hints of samba and a ridiculously catchy groove. Great funky guitars and boy does this track make you wanna dance on a hot summer day.
4. 5:52 - "Jazz Militia" - Straight-up deep house. Simple and effective loops, beats, claps. Has a cool-to-the-touch feel to it, with those chilled-out synths.
5. 7:13 - (Tom Taylor & Simon Morell Remix) - A flat-out gorgeous deep-house remix that is oh so sweet. Complete with a wonderfully inspirational spoken word bit that builds up to a lovely climax.
