Charismatic trumpeter joined by some big name vocalists. Some tracks are Theo highlighted against a competent background band. Lots of energy here, accessible to even those outside the jivin' hepcats. 1. ** (3:08) Fun little horn line, supported by drums, bass, piano. About 25 s silence end of track. 2. *** (2:01) Pensive, stream-of-consciousness trumpet solo 3. ***** (5:37) Very Funky, full brass hits. Mean guitar, organ, tight drums, jazzy trumpet. 4. *** (6:14) Fast, almost salsa. 5. **** (3:23) Little on the funky side. Organ. Very dynamic. 6. **** (4:43) Dreamy, upbeat. Great horn background. 7. **** (5:31) Groovy. First lyrics. Love-drenched. Interesting stereo mix alternates sound left to right. 8. *** (6:37) Slow. Smooth jazz. Buzzing high hat. 9. *** (4:34) Frantic, strange meter. Fast. Jumpy piano dance. Lots of non-harmonics (experimental?) 10. ***** (4:53) Upbeat. Muted trump a good touch.
