This is a compilation of songs written by Sahir Ludhianvi, a well-known lyricist of Hindi (Bollywood) films.These songs are from 1950s-1970s described by some as the Golden Age of Hindi film music. This was a period when there was equal emphasis on lyrics and melody and the result is a stash of classic hits ranging from happy to mellow tunes. Ludhianvi was known for his beautifully written songs most of which had a poetic quality about it.
This CD features some of the best playback singers, which is how singers are described in Indian film music along with well-known music composers. Most songs in this compilation are on the mellow side. Don’t expect to hear foot stomping, amped up music, but gentle, poetic songs about life and love.
All the songs are in Hindi.

2. Hemant Kumar’s mesmerizing baritone voice coupled with Lata Mangeshkar’s melodic voice
made this 1952 song a hit. It was featured in the film Jaal. Music by SD Burman.

HUM DONO.
4. A hauntingly beautiful song about lost love sung by Hemant Kumar with muis cby SD Burman
from the 1955 film HOUSE NO:44
5. A classic and sad tune by Hemant Kumar from the 1957 film Pyaasa by Guru Dutt. Pyaasa is
considered one of the top classic Hindi films. Music is by SD Burman.
6. An incredibly romantic and poetic song sung by Mohammad Rafi front he 1963 film KAAJAL. Music is by Ravi.
