Love Me

This is the mid-tempo follow-up to Barfod’s debut album Salton Sea. Expect mild, fairly minimal electronic pop with a variety of guest vocals both male (Luke Temple, Jeppe Kjellberg, Pell) and female (Nina K.). The tracks are pretty varied with touches of different genres pulled together by the recurrence of heavy beats, some light video-game-like synth and the occasional strings and scattering of weird electronic sounds. Overall comes off as light, airy and poppy despite the thudding rhythms that drive it into the realm of electro-dance. Try 1, 2, 4, 6. FCC Clean.

1.*(4:09) Piano intro, high male vox by Luke Temple from Here We Go Magic. Some synth organ interspersed, beat and instrumentals build at around 1:30 with more electronic layers
2.*(3:14) Mid-tempo. Melodic synth intro, them fem vox with light vocal processing.
3.(3:38) Instrumental. Halting, quiet intro, before beat drops. Video-game-like synth under thudding beat. Phone ringing? Hello?
4.*(4:33) Dreamy electro-pop. Fem vox and beat pattern almost reminds me of 90’s house/trance like Robert Miles’s Dreamland, but more on the pop/dance side.
5.(3:39) Starts with a repetitive chorus continued throughout, slow/mid tempo with a bit more of a hip-hop/R&B vibe. Not my favorite, but not bad.
6.*(5:18) Probably my favorite track – Quiet, slow start, into fem vox and light, thudding beat and synth, builds a bit to mid tempo with strings. “Meet me after dark…”
7.(4:45) Steady mid beat, processed vocal interludes, some organ
8.(4:02) Slow/mid. Guitar intro, fem vox, same electronic/midi-like synth organ layering as most tracks
9.(3:31) Instrumental. Slow, dream-like intro with some beachy sounds. Beat builds but pretty steady throughout.
10.(3:51) Strange lyrics – “I never really wanted to sell you…” Echoey electronic.
11.(4:34) More pop-like, with a strong beat, male vox, more melodic, synth/ambient still in background, tuba sounds in the instrumental ending?
