COLL: I'm Starting To Feel Ok Vol.6 Pt.1 Label: Mule Musiq
Japan-based Mule Musiq just put out this nice compilation of abstract techno/house, headlined by well-known producers Axel Bowman, Fred P (of Black Jazz Consortium), and Johannes Brecht. There's a ton of great stuff here that features jazz-influenced horns, trippy beats & mysterious & exotic synths. Picks: 1,3,4,5,6,9,10. My favorites: Axel Boman's "Anytime is Fine" (#1), De La Calle's "Together" (#3), Steinhoff's "Downtown" (#6).
1. (4:45) A tasty little opener w/ catchy synth loops, claps, fem vox samples. Great stuff by deep-techno producer Axel Boman
2. (6:39) Mellow synth washes & analog tweaks over groovy house. Dig the abstract jazz horns in the 2nd half.
3. (6:25) Chill synths, exotic ambience, organic w/ jazzy melodies. Such a cool vibe.
4. (6:13) A plucked string melody w/ spacey abstract techno. Mysterious work by Fred P.
5. (7:17) Lovely synths & congas, blissful, cheerful & warm.
6. (6:17) Warm synth layers, a pinging loop, cool jazz horns, & a "Detroit" sample
7. (4:40) Abstract techno w/ chunky beats & noisy hi-hats & cymbal crashes
8. (6:55) Very funky analog disco w/ groovy acidic basslines. Retro & fun.
9. (6:48) Trippy breakbeat-y track that's abstract, chaotic, and dramatic at the same time
10. (5:57) Deep & heavy beats, echo-ey fem vocals, w/ super-chill synths and warm bubbly tones
