SOULFUL SINGER/SONGWRITER
Jake Tavill is an 18 year old from New Jersey who’s studied at the Berklee College of Music and played gigs around the East Coast. Here’s his debut album with 10 original songs. Jake sings lead with a sweet falsetto and plays all keyboards. Accompaniment is guitar, bass, drums, backing vocals, horns and some strings.

No FCC issues.

1 ** Mid-fast. Good R&B vocal. Soulful groove w/ a funky sax. Nice horn break. (2:53)
2 Mid-fast. Happy pop. Horn section sounds like a marching band. (2:20)
3 Mid-slow. Sad. Good singing, but this song sort of plods. There are strings. (2:58)
4 * Slow. Bluesy ballad. Good bending electric guitar and a fine trumpet solo. (3:02)
5 Very slow. Sweet (too sweet) love song. Lots of strings; a bit of trumpet. (4:30)
6 * Mid-fast. Alternating hard brassy sections and sweet strings section. Good song. (1:56)
7 ** Mid-tempo. The closest thing to “rock” on the album: electric guitar mixes it up with funky horns. Strong vocal as well. (2:36)
8 Slow. A mush of sad singing, distracting trombone, sweet strings, blues guitar. (3:04)
9 * Mid-fast. Post-breakup song. This time the mix of strings, piano, guitar, horns is used to good, interesting effect. (3:18)
10 Mid-tempo. Sweet and syrupy. (5:16)
